| ZAMBESI SUMMER 2008 WOMENS COLLECTION 'Lucid' | ![]() |
Zambesi articulated its singular vision with a collection pared back to the essentials of cut, shape and monochrome colour. Sheer stretch taffetas and silks were worked into shapes that drew references from 20s bias cuts to 60s futuristic shifts. Graphic silk prints emerged in lighthearted jumpsuits, balloon skirts, and puff sleeve capes. Deco inspired geometric shapes formed structural detail, and a return to summer suiting was celebrated with cap sleeved jackets and drain pipe trousers.
Elisabeth Findlay drew on her own extensive back catalogue to reinforce both the timelessness of Zambesi’s archives and the relevance of 80’s silhouettes today.
Fabric designs were stretched into oversize t-shirt prints, and t-shirts were stretched into dresses in Zambesi’s continual exploration of proportion.
The Zambesi woman has a respect for her history and a desire to enter the future with a strong sense of purpose, wearing clothes as intriguing as her smile and as malleable as her mood.
