ZAMBESI WINTER 2008/9

Pure Zambesi

Zambesi released their Winter 2008 Collection with a powerful catwalk show at Auckland’s Power Station rock venue during Air New Zealand Fashion Week.

Hailed as one of Elisabeth Findlay’s strongest collections, the clothes reflected all the hallmarks of pure Zambesi, with totally wearable but thought provoking design.

Dazed and Confused UK contributor Eleanor Morgan declared “I’m in love with Zambesi….This show could have been on a Paris runway …I was totally blown away.”

The show and the collection were stunningly styled in-house by Zambesi. With hair direction by KMS creative guru Greg Murrell of Ryder Salon and make up by Amber Dreadon from MAC.

“Liz Findlay has the gift of taking the season’s key looks and approaching them in such a unique way that you don’t even notice that she is devastatingly on trend. The clothes were both futuristic and vintage Zambesi at the same time. Is that possible? Yes it is actually, when you mix up your styling in the way that Zambesi does…..teaming stolid wool and suiting pieces in drab brown and grey with space-age silver, hi-sheen blacks and sheer nude lingerie”

Leonie Barlow, editor of Fashion Quarterly reviews.
“Despite the odds (read dark and smoke) this collection shone with a dark beauty that only Zambesi can convey. Texture took centre stage in this line up with a beautiful collision of chunky corduroy jackets, fine silk dresses, checked woolen coats, fringed Charlestonesque dresses and scarves, and oilskin oversized coats. In fact a stand-out for me was the work of Zambesi Man designer Dayne Johnston with his silver men’s suit. Sounds crazy but it works. It really works and it makes you feel that you are getting what you expect from Fashion week – Zambesi has taken a fling with bling this season and managed to pull off not only an ironic practicality with its range, but an individual spirit that is pure Zambesi “
